Sam’s presentation details:

“He’s Not Just a Rare Case: Practical Gender Differences in Eating Disorder Care Across the Continuum”

Gender differences in eating disorder treatment remain understudied despite rising prevalence in males. Emerging evidence suggests comparable psychological outcomes across genders, yet notable differences in weight response, treatment engagement, and lived experience—particularly within inpatient and higher levels of care. Men often face stigma and gender-incongruent treatment environments, while females remain the majority in clinical samples. This presentation examines gender-specific considerations across the continuum of care, emphasizing the need for inclusive, tailored interventions to optimize outcomes for all patients.”

“The Therapeutic Sweet Spot: Core Ingredients of Effective Eating Disorder Treatment Across Modalities”

This presentation explores the shared mechanisms underlying effective eating disorder treatment across major counseling models, including, but not limited to, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Rather than focusing on differences, it highlights common factors such as emotion regulation, cognitive flexibility, and values-based action. Attendees will gain practical insight into “the therapeutic sweet spot”—the overlapping principles that drive meaningful change across levels of care and diverse client presentations.
