About the Presenter:

Gerry Baird is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) who earned a Master of Professional Counseling degree from Grand Canyon University. He has extensive experience using modalities such as Radically Open Dialectal Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) therapy. He started his career doing general outpatient work, then opted to specialize in treating eating disorders. He is currently the clinical director of the adult residential eating disorder treatment unit at Center for Change in Orem, Utah.

Description of Presentation:

Eating disorders rarely occur in isolation but are often accompanied by other disorders such as depression, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. This can complicate the treatment process and leave questions about how to target multiple disorders in an effective and ethical manner. In this presentation, the prevalence of co-occurring disorders in eating disorder populations will be reviewed along with strategies for successful intervention.
