About the Presenter:
Danielle graduated from the University of Idaho with a degree in dietetics. She is licensed by the Board of Medicine in Idaho and registered with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She has successfully completed and continues to maintain her 200 hr. Registered Yoga Teacher credentials with Yoga Alliance. Danielle’s yoga teaching philosophy creates a safe and accessible space for all bodies. She is currently working on obtaining her CEDRD eating disorder credentials from IAEDP.
In her free time, Danielle likes to practice yoga, cook without recipes, be outside, and lose herself in a good book or a 90’s sitcom. She lives in Boise, Idaho with many loved ones and a fish named Jethro.

Description of Presentation:
The presence of weight stigma infiltrates many areas in our culture including in the medical/treatment setting. This presentation will take a look at the research into how weight stigma impacts patients in a variety of health care settings and what that means for providers. A variety of weight neutral interventions will be discussed that are easy to use in a variety of treatment settings to create a safe setting for people of all body sizes.
Learning Objectives:
Based on the content of the workshop participants will be able to (use Verbs such as “list, describe, identify, discuss, explain,” etc.:
1. Participants will be able to identify at least three negative implications that weight stigma has on health
2. Participants will be able to describe three ways to make a health care setting more weight inclusive
3. Participants will be able to explain the difference between weight inclusive vs. weight normative care in the health care setting
Training For:
Staff of Hospitals, Medical Centers, Mental Health Clinics, General Medicine Physicians, Psychiatrists, APRN’s, Psychologists, Counselors, Dietitians, Nurses, Substance Abuse Counselors, Mental Health Technicians for all levels including introductory to advanced.
