Description of Presentation:

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a rapidly growing form of therapy offering a unique approach that helps clients access deeper insights about themselves, process trauma, and heal childhood wounds. Useful both in addressing surface symptoms and restructuring deeper internal beliefs, the flexibility and effectiveness of IFS make it an excellent option for those in eating disorder treatment dealing with complex and co-occurring disorders. It tends to be well received and sought after by many clients, particularly those who have spent time using other therapeutic modalities without experiencing the desired recovery results.

Learning Objectives:

Based on the content of the workshop participants will be able to:

1. Describe the idea of “parts work” and how to do therapeutic work with managers, firefighters and exiles.

2. Explain the concept of Self and how Self-leadership aligns with the eating disorder recovery process

3. Describe scenarios in which IFS would be an appropriate intervention based on client symptoms and readiness

Training for:

Staff of Hospitals, Medical Centers, Mental Health Clinics, General Medicine Physicians, Psychiatrists, APRN’s, Psychologists, Counselors, Dietitians, Nurses, Substance Abuse Counselors, Mental Health Technicians for all levels including introductory to advanced
