Communicate, from the Latin word “communicare”, means “to share”. We share our thoughts, feelings, needs, and interests through our speech, writing, body language, dress and appearance, what we listen to, and what we spend our time doing. Thoughtful and effective communication, or sharing, can be very difficult. Effective communication builds trust and aids in problem-solving and decision-making processes. It requires a level of vulnerability as well as receptiveness that can be challenging or even frightening.

This week, Recreation, Music, and Movement Therapies will explore and identify effective communication skills and styles. Through providing opportunities to practice these skills, the women at Center for Change will have opportunities to improve communication efficacy.
