CFC And Research
Dr. Scott Richards and Dr. Melissa Smith of Center for Change presented a poster presentation at the AED/ICED Eating Disorder Conference in Montreal Canada on May 02, 2013. Research results presented were based on a recent study conducted at Center for Change in which it was found that patients made significant improvements in their ability to eat intuitively from beginning to end of their treatment at the Center. Their research also found and reported that improvements in intuitive eating were correlated with positive outcomes in other areas of mental and emotional health including a decrease in eating disorder behaviors, improved body image, improved relationships with food, and a decrease in various psychiatric symptoms including depression and anxiety. Dr. Michael Berrett and Tamara Noyes also participated in that conference. For detailed information about the study, please contact your Business Development Rep or Tamara Noyes.
CFC And Legislative Activity
On April 17th, 2013 Michael Berrett, PhD, Pam Kidd, Diana Allred, and Angela Reese of Center for Change participated in the Eating Disorders Coalition Lobby/Advocacy Days on Capitol Hill in Washington DC. They joined 100 volunteers who had appointments in 60 offices of US Senators and Members of the House. The efforts in the meeting with these congressional leaders were geared towards educating them on the concerns and needs of those patients with eating disorders. They discussed the urgency to pass needed regulations to accompany the Parity Bill to assure the Affordable Care Act includes proper benefits for those suffering from eating disorders and related mental illnesses, and encouragement to continue to support the FREED Act which bolsters chances of proper insurance coverage and treatment for those persons and families suffering with eating disorders.
CFC And Non-Profit Participation
On the evening of April 17th, 2013 Michael Berrett, PhD was honored to attend the NEDA Benefit Dinner in the Chase Manhattan Building in New York City. Center for Change is pleased to be a NEDA sustaining sponsor and support this important cause. NEDA is a leader in the eating disorder field as it continues to promote its valuable causes including education, prevention, research, and family advocacy.
