Individual therapy offers a safe, supportive place to learn and grow in the recovery process without judgment. As patients process through difficult issues, they are taught and encouraged to use new and different coping skills to replace negative coping mechanisms they may have relied on in the past. Each patient at Center for Change is assigned an eating disorder therapist with specialized training and experience.

In individual sessions, the therapist works one-on-one to explore and understand specific issues, challenges and progress. The therapist forges a strong relationship of trust with the client and monitors progress throughout the program. As patients step down in levels of care, they retain the same therapist throughout this process, which helps to facilitate continuity of care. Patients receive four individual therapy sessions weekly in inpatient care and two sessions weekly during residential treatment.
