The Center for Change strives to offer the best treatment available in a manageable, cost-effective matter. At the Center, like most low cost treatment centers, we work with insurance as much as possible. For some insurance carriers we are considered to be an in-network provider, but for other insurances we are considered out-of-network because we do not have a contract with them. Most insurance plans have both in-network and out-of-network coverage, but not all. Typically, the out-of-network coverage entails higher deductible and out-of-pocket costs. The Admissions Department at Center for Change would be happy to call and check on that coverage for you and explain how your specific plan will work. We highly recommend you also call insurance to verify your mental health benefits so you understand your insurance policy benefits and limitations.
Having insurance does not guarantee payment and benefits are not the same as authorization. Usually, insurance requires clinical information to be given to them within 24 hours after admission before they will authorize or approve care. If insurance does authorize the admission they will continue to request clinical updates as the client progresses through the program to determine if they will continue to authorize and if the client still meets their criteria for care.
At times insurance does not authorize as much time as we would like our patients to have or think that they need in order to heal. Ultimately, financial responsibility will go to the client and/or her family. If insurance stops authorizing for care, but continued treatment is needed, the patient does have the option to continue in the program and pay privately for care. If the patient makes payment within 7 days from the time of insurance denial, she can take advantage of a discounted private pay rate.
We do offer discounts for patients who do not have insurance and will be paying privately. Center for Change does not offer payment on a sliding scale.
For 24-hour care, the daily program rates include all visits with Center for Change staff, meals, and school for adolescents. It does not include the cost of medication, the processing of labs, or any outside treatment needed (if a patient needs to go to a consult with an outside specialist, etc.).
