How do you define failure? Thomas Edison, inventor of the light bulb, said “I have not failed. I have just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” Is failure a final end, an event, or a perception? Mistakes and/or set-backs are often frustrating and can easily become opportunities to give up and quit. Failures however are also opportunities to move forward with newfound knowledge and life experience. In moments of failure we can learn about ourselves and our capabilities, we find new ways adapt, and we often experience unexpected (even positive) outcomes that we might never have known without our initial willingness to try.

This week Recreation and Experiential Therapy groups will explore the topics of determination, adaptability, attitude, personal motivation, fear, resiliency, and read real world examples of people who persevered in spite of their failures.
